Every month, hundreds of people in Cancún type into Google «agencia SEO Cancún», «agencia de posicionamiento web en Cancún» or some variation. Almost none find what they’re actually looking for on page one: they see directories, generic listings, and agencies from another city that bought the keyword.

If you run a business here and want to show up when someone looks you up, this is the real work—no fluff. It’s six things, in this order.

1. Intent first, then the keyword

«agencia SEO Cancún» is not the same as «cuánto cuesta el SEO» or «cómo aparecer en Google Maps». The first is typed by someone who’s ready to hire and choosing who. The other two are typed by someone who’s still learning.

The practical takeaway: one page per intent. If you cram all three into the same piece, Google won’t know what to show you for—and you won’t show up for any. The most common mistake we see on sites in Cancún is a single “services” page trying to cover everything.

2. The result title decides if they click—not your web design

This lands best with a number. We’ve audited sites that rank in Google’s top 10 for their main query and get thousands of impressions with only a handful of clicks. It’s not a ranking problem—they’re up there. The title in the result gives no reason to click.

What makes a title work:

  • Under 60 characters. Longer, Google cuts it.
  • The exact term the person typed, up front.
  • A concrete reason to click: a price, a timeframe, a number, a scoped promise.
  • No boilerplate suffixes like “| Professional Services | Your Company” across 200 pages of the site.

It’s the cheapest SEO change there is, and almost nobody does it: it doesn’t touch design, it doesn’t touch content, and you see results within weeks.

3. The service page has to actually exist

To rank for «agencia SEO en Cancún» you need a page dedicated to that. Not a paragraph inside “about us.” A page with:

  • What the service includes, with concrete verbs, not adjectives.
  • How you work, step by step.
  • What you deliver and how often.
  • Results with numbers, even if modest. One real data point beats three superlatives.
  • A contact method that works on the phone. In Cancún that means WhatsApp: we measured 758 businesses in the city and only 112 list an email, while 645 list a phone number.

4. Local signals matter more than you think

For a city-based search, Google blends two things: your website and your Google Business Profile listing. If the listing is incomplete, the website alone won’t make up for it.

Baseline: correct category, real hours, a phone that gets answered, recent photos, and reviews replied to. Responding to reviews is a signal, and it’s also the one thing on this list you can do today without anyone’s help.

5. Internal links: the asset you already have and don’t use

If you’ve been publishing for years, you have dozens of articles that could be sending authority to your service page but aren’t—because no one linked them.

The rule we use: the anchor has to be text already written in the article, two links per piece max, never inside a heading, and always within the same language. Doing it by hand across 300 articles is unfeasible; doing it with an organized rollout and a daily quota isn’t.

6. Measure position, not visits

Traffic goes up and down for a thousand reasons. What tells you if SEO is working is the average position of the queries that matter to you, and you read that in Search Console—free, no paid tool needed.

Two numbers are enough to start: how many impressions each query has and what position you’re in. If you have impressions and you’re between 10 and 30, the job is to push. If you have impressions, you’re in the top 5, and no one’s clicking, the job is the title. They’re two different problems, and they get fixed differently.

How long this takes

Honestly: titles and your local listing show impact in two to six weeks. A new service page competing for a city query takes three to six months to settle. Anyone promising first position in thirty days is selling you something else.

And one warning we always give: if your business needs clients this month, SEO isn’t the tool. That’s advertising. SEO is what makes you not depend on ads a year from now.

Where would you start

If you’re going to do just one thing this week, make it this: open Search Console, look at your ten queries with the most impressions, and check how many have clicks. That table will tell you in ten minutes whether your problem is ranking or title.

And if you’d rather we take a look, we will: this is how we approach SEO in Cancún, and you can write to us and we’ll tell you where you stand before you sign anything.
